Web Design

In December 2014 I started development of a new website for the Forge Gaming Network. The main objectives for the new site were to showcase Forge Gaming Network’s new products in a contemporary, visually dynamic manner and to provide a completely responsive and mobile friendly experience. The new website went live in January 2015.

This project resulted in the creation of an entirely new web platform which not only powers Forge Gaming Network but also my own portfolio site, this site!

Forge Gaming Network

Development

ForgeCP is a tool I developed for Forge Gaming Network to resell DigitalOcean Droplets. ForgeCP allows one to associate a DigitalOcean Droplet to a ForgeCP user and therefore provide the user with control panel access to only their Droplets (Atoms).

Along with ForgeCP have developed a range of tools, most of which are open source and can be found on my GitHub account. These tool are primarily written in PHP and are used by Forge Gaming Network to display server information on their website as well as create backups of their Teamspeak 3 server.

ICT EXPERIENCE

HARDWARE DEPLOYMENT INCLUDING NETWORK INTEGRATION

My experience and knowledge includes an understanding of how to build, maintain and upgrade computers and how to integrate them into business-class networks with dedicated backup hardware technologies, including NAS and RAID.

SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS, WEB DEVELOPMENT, VIRTUALISED ENVIRONMENTS & COMMUNITY ADMINISTRATION

My knowledge of software applications includes extensive use and a rich understanding of Photoshop which I have implemented before and throughout my degree studies. Other applications with which I am particularly familiar include InDesign, Premier, AutoCAD, 3DS MAX and SketchUp, which I used throughout my degree.

I have a key interest in web-development with a basic understanding of computer programing in Delphi but have a far greater understanding of Web 2.0 technologies including HTML5 and CSS3 and have used these skills to developed websites including this personal portfolio site. Along with this I have also built bespoke PHP scripts which integrate social media platforms (inc. Twitter and Facebook) into The Forge Gaming Network’s website and Teamspeak VoIP platform.

I have also set up and maintained Cloud VPSs (Virtual Private Servers) for The Forge Gaming Network, an established international gaming community. This incorporates managing Linux operating systems (CentOS) through SSH along with installing and configuring server-end software including Teamspeak, MySQL and gaming server software. Along with this, I have experience in server security, including SSL setup, Linux firewalls and basic DDOS protection.

I am interested in the gaming industry, playing computer games and keeping up to date with new developments and technologies in the industry.
